Getting started
Whyston generates MBB-grade consulting presentations with AI. You can use it in two ways:
- PowerPoint add-in — open the Whyston panel inside PowerPoint (Home tab → Generate Slides). Slides are inserted directly into your deck.
- Web app — visit whyston.com, sign in, and generate presentations in your browser. Export to PPTX when ready.
Both surfaces support the AI assistant, slide generation from briefs, image generation, chart editing, and overlay annotations.
Frequently asked questions
How do I sign in?
Create an account with your email address, or sign in with Google. In the PowerPoint add-in, you can also use Microsoft SSO if your organization supports it.
What AI models are used?
Whyston uses large language models to generate slide content, narratives, and chart specifications. The default model may change over time as we evaluate quality and cost. You do not need your own API key — generation is included with your account.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your prompts are sent to AI providers under API terms that do not use your data to train their models. Your presentation is assembled into a PowerPoint file on our servers and returned to your session for insertion; we do not retain the final .pptx file after it is delivered. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Can I delete my data?
You can delete individual conversations from within the app. To request full account deletion, contact us at the email below.
Troubleshooting
- Add-in not loading — ensure you are signed in. The add-in requires an active session. Try closing and reopening the task pane.
- Generation quota reached — each account has a monthly generation limit that resets on the 1st of each month. Contact us if you need a higher limit.
- "Cannot reach server" — check your internet connection. Both the add-in and web app require connectivity to whyston.com.
- Charts or overlays not rendering — ensure you are using a supported version of PowerPoint (Microsoft 365, Office 2021 or later). Office 2019 and earlier may not support all add-in features.
- Google sign-in blocked in add-in — the OAuth flow opens in your system browser. If it doesn't appear, check for pop-up blockers or try signing in with email/password instead.
